Korean Taxi Destination Phrases
Learn practical Korean for telling a taxi driver your destination, showing an address, asking to stop, and paying politely in Korea.

1. When to use these taxi phrases
Taxi Korean is one of the most useful travel skills because the conversation is short, fast, and tied to a real destination. You do not need a long sentence. You need a place name, an address, and one polite request.
This lesson teaches a calm pattern for getting into a taxi, showing a map, asking the driver to go to a destination, and confirming where to stop. It is useful when the place name is hard to pronounce or when the driver asks for a more exact location.
Use these phrases for hotels, guesthouses, subway stations, airports, restaurants, tourist spots, and workplace visits. If the route is complicated, show the map first and then add one short Korean sentence.
- You want to tell a taxi driver a destination or address.
- You need to show a map because the place name is difficult.
- You want to ask the driver to go straight, turn left, or turn right.
- You need to stop near an entrance, subway exit, hotel, or airport gate.
- You want to pay by card or ask for a receipt.

3. Taxi destination pattern

- Start with the destination
Say 서울역으로 가 주세요 or 이 주소로 가 주세요. The particle 으로 marks the direction or destination. - Show the map early
If the address is long, say 여기 지도예요. This prevents a long pronunciation problem and helps the driver confirm the route. - Use simple direction words
직진, 좌회전, and 우회전 are useful if the driver asks for the exact entrance or road. Keep the sentence short. - Ask where to stop
Use 여기서 세워 주세요 or 입구 앞에서 세워 주세요 when you are close to the destination. - Finish with payment
Say 카드로 결제할게요 or 영수증 주세요. This is polite and clear at the end of the ride.
4. Example conversation
A 안녕하세요. 서울역으로 가 주세요.
Hello. Please go to Seoul Station.
B 네, 어느 출구 쪽으로 가면 될까요?
Okay. Which exit side should I go to?
A 이 주소로 가 주세요. 여기 지도예요.
Please go to this address. Here is the map.
B 도착하면 어디에서 세워 드릴까요?
When we arrive, where should I stop?
A 입구 앞에서 세워 주세요. 카드로 결제할게요.
Please stop in front of the entrance. I will pay by card.

5. Common mistake
Do not only say a famous area name if your destination is inside a large station, mall, or hotel complex. Show the address or map, then say the exact entrance or exit when you get close.
6. Quick check
What does 이 주소로 가 주세요 mean in a taxi?
- Please go to this address.
- Please stop here.
- How much is it?
- Please give me a receipt.
Answer: A
7. Practice routine
Practice the core chain aloud: destination, map, direction, stop, payment. This sequence matches most taxi conversations in Korea.
Change only the destination each time. For example, say 호텔로 가 주세요, 공항으로 가 주세요, or 이 주소로 가 주세요.
Before you ride, prepare the Korean place name and a map. Even if your Korean pronunciation is not perfect, the map and one clear phrase usually solve the problem.
