24 Korean phrases for housing deductions
Use the learner-friendly pronunciation first and RR only as a reference. Confirm difficult sounds with Korean audio or a speaker.
1. List the housing and meals provided
Write down the housing type, address, shared occupancy and meals actually provided. A heading such as ‘company housing’ is not enough to calculate a fair share.

Two housing-cost dialogues
1
근로자: 근로계약서에 적힌 숙식비가 얼마예요?
담당자: 숙박비와 식비를 나누어 확인해 드릴게요.
근로자: 제 언어로 된 공제동의서를 주세요.
담당자: 설명을 들은 뒤 자유롭게 결정하세요.
근로자: 공제동의서 사본도 주세요.
The worker matches housing and meal amounts, requests an understandable consent form and keeps a copy.
2
근로자: 이번 달 공제액이 왜 달라요?
담당자: 전기요금 실제 사용액이 반영됐습니다.
근로자: 가스비와 인터넷비 영수증을 볼 수 있나요?

Before signing or paying
- Housing type, address and number of residents are written down
- Meals actually provided are clear
- The contract has separate housing and meal amounts
- The consent form matches those contract amounts
- I read the form in a language I understand
- No blank amount remains when I sign
- Variable utilities use actual evidence and later settlement
- Every deduction appears on the payslip
- I have the signed consent copy and receipts
- I know the next consent/check date and the 1350 route
What this episode intentionally leaves for later
- Episode 3 remains the full employment-contract guide
- Episode 16 will teach a complete payslip check
- Episode 21 covers repairs and housing defects
- Episode 22 covers opening and checking utilities
- There is no single national percentage in this episode; the 2017 deduction guideline was abolished when the current guideline took effect
Never sign a blank deduction amount or hand over your only copy. Keep the contract, consent form, payslips and actual-cost evidence together; seek advice before agreeing to a record you cannot understand.
