Mobile phone contracts in Korea often include a contract period, monthly fee, data plan, discount condition, penalty fee, SIM card, bill, and cancellation rule. At a carrier store, the staff may explain these terms quickly. This lesson teaches the Korean words that help foreign residents ask better questions before signing or changing a phone plan.
Check the Contract Period Before the Monthly Fee
The most important word is 약정. It means a contract commitment. If a plan has a 약정 기간, ask how many months it lasts and what happens if you cancel early. A cheap 월 요금 may depend on a long contract, a discount, or a device payment. Always check 위약금 before signing.
This lesson is for language learning only. It does not replace a contract review. If the phone contract affects money, device installment payments, cancellation, immigration registration, or your account holder name, ask the carrier store to explain the terms in writing.
