Government notices in Korea often contain deadlines, required documents, eligibility rules, visit instructions, and inquiry contacts. The message may be short, but one missed word can change what you need to do next. This lesson teaches the Korean words that help foreign residents identify deadlines and required action in official notices.
Start With the Deadline and Required Action
The most important words are 기한, 마감, and 필수. 기한 and 마감 both point to a deadline or closing date. 필수 means required or mandatory. If a notice includes these words, do not read it as a simple announcement. It may be asking you to submit documents, visit an office, confirm eligibility, or make an inquiry before the deadline.
This lesson is for language learning only. It does not replace official advice from a public office. If a notice affects your visa, benefits, tax, housing registration, insurance, or employment status, contact the office listed in the notice before the deadline.
