Use this convenience store phrase lesson first
This page focuses on short phrases you can say at the counter. Start with 계산해 주세요, “please ring this up,” then add one request such as a bag, receipt, heating, or card payment.
| Counter phrase | Korean | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout | 계산해 주세요 | Please ring this up. |
| Bag | 봉투 주세요 | Please give me a bag. |
| Heat it | 데워 주세요 | Please heat it up. |
| Payment | 카드로 할게요 | I will pay by card. |
Use one phrase at a time. If the cashier asks a question, answer 네 or 아니요 first. Continue with convenience store resident words and grocery store words.
Practice this order at the counter: item first, payment second, receipt last. For example, say 계산해 주세요, then 카드로 할게요, then 영수증 주세요. If you are buying hot food, add 데워 주세요 before you pay.
If the cashier asks about a bag or membership, you can answer simply: 봉투 주세요, 괜찮아요, or 회원 아니에요. Short answers are enough in most convenience store situations.
For pickup orders, show the order number and say 픽업 주문이에요. If something is missing, say 이게 빠졌어요 and show the receipt.
Keep this page open while practicing so the phrases stay visible at the counter.

Convenience stores in Korea move quickly. You may only have ten seconds to answer about a bag, payment, heating food, or a receipt. This lesson gives you short Korean convenience store phrases that are polite, easy to repeat, and useful even when the store is busy.
What this lesson helps you do
Use these phrases when you buy snacks, drinks, lunch boxes, prepaid items, or daily supplies. The goal is not to sound fancy. The goal is to hear the clerk’s question, answer naturally, and leave the counter without confusion.

Real checkout examples
Clerk: 봉투 필요하세요? You: 괜찮아요. 카드로 결제할게요.
Clerk: 영수증 필요하세요? You: 네, 영수증 주세요.
You: 이거 데워 주세요. 젓가락도 주세요.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not answer every question with only 네. If the clerk asks about a bag, 네 may mean you want one. If you do not need it, say 괜찮아요. Also, 주세요 is safer than pointing silently because it clearly shows what you want.
Mini practice prompt
Imagine you are buying a bottle of water and a lunch box. Say three sentences aloud: ask to heat the food, say you will pay by card, and say you do not need a bag. Keep each sentence short.
