1. Confirm whether and when to register

Foreign nationals intending to stay longer than 90 days generally register within 90 days of entry, subject to exemptions. F-4 domestic residence reporting is a different route; confirm your case through HiKorea or 1345.

2. Reserve the correct immigration office

Use HiKorea to reserve a visit at the office responsible for your Korean residence. Do not assume the closest office has jurisdiction.

3. Complete the integrated application form

Use the current official Form 34 and tick Foreign Resident Registration. Copy passport details exactly, enter your Korean address and sign only after checking the form.

4. Prepare the general documents

The MOJ lists a passport, proof of residence and one 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo taken within six months. Carry originals and copies when the office or your status requires them.

5. Add documents required for your status

Required attachments vary by status. Check the current HiKorea guidance or ask 1345, then request employer or school documents before the appointment.

6. Submit, provide fingerprints and pay

Bring the appointment confirmation. Follow the officer’s instructions for fingerprints and payment. The MOJ announced a 35,000 won residence-card issuance fee from 1 January 2025; recheck the amount when booking.

7. Keep the receipt and choose card delivery

Keep the receipt and application number. Confirm whether the card will be collected at the office or delivered by mail and who may receive it.

Store scans securely and keep originals under your control. Address, workplace or status changes can have separate deadlines; this article only tells you to verify and report them, not how to file every change.

Before you visit the office

• I confirmed whether the registration duty and 90-day deadline apply to my exact status.
• I reserved the office with jurisdiction over my Korean residence.
• My passport name, number and Korean address match Form 34.
• I have one current 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo.
• I have acceptable proof of residence.
• I checked the status-specific list through HiKorea or 1345.
• Employer or school documents are ready before the appointment.
• I confirmed the current fee and accepted payment methods.
• I will keep the receipt and application number.
• I know whether I will collect the card or receive it by mail.
