After a clinic visit in Korea, you may leave with a prescription and walk to a nearby pharmacy. The conversation often moves quickly: submit the prescription, wait while the medicine is prepared, listen to the dosage instructions, pay, and keep the receipt if you need documents later. This lesson teaches the practical Korean words that help foreign residents understand that pharmacy flow.
What Happens After You Receive a Prescription
The Korean word 처방전 means prescription. In many cases, the clinic gives you a prescription and you bring it to a pharmacy, or the prescription information may be sent digitally. At the pharmacy, the staff may ask you to wait, confirm your name, explain how to take the medicine, and give you a medicine bag. If you need a receipt for a private insurance claim or expense record, ask before leaving.
This lesson is for language learning only. It does not replace advice from a doctor or pharmacist. If you do not understand how to take medicine, ask the pharmacist to explain again slowly. The safest Korean sentence is 복용 방법을 다시 설명해 주세요, which means “Please explain the dosage instructions again.”
