School notices are often short, but they can carry several decisions at once: read the notice, prepare an item, sign a consent form, reply by a deadline, tell the teacher about attendance, or check the school app. This lesson gives you the Korean phrases to slow that process down and handle one decision at a time.

The goal is not to become an expert in Korean school administration. The goal is to understand what a teacher or school notice is asking a guardian to do, and to answer politely without exposing private information. We use safe sample sentences and blank examples only.

A strong parent message usually has four parts: the topic, the child-related action, the deadline or time, and one confirmation sentence. If one part is missing, ask for that part only instead of writing a long uncertain message.

School Notice Decision Checklist

First, identify the source. Is the final instruction in the paper notice, the 알림장, the school app, a text message, or a teacher’s direct message? If two sources differ, ask: 어느 안내를 따르면 돼요?

Second, find the action verb. Important verbs include 제출하다 submit, 서명하다 sign, 가져오다 bring, 보내다 send, 회신하다 reply, and 확인하다 check.

Third, separate school action from guardian action. A child may need to bring 체육복, while the guardian may need to sign 동의서. Mixing these roles creates many real-life mistakes.

Fourth, protect private information. If a form asks for contact details, write only what the school needs. Do not send photos that show resident registration numbers, full addresses, unrelated documents, or another child’s name.

Fifth, confirm receipt. After you reply, ask whether the teacher received it and whether your child should bring, submit, or check anything the next day.

Core School Notice Vocabulary

Attendance, Consent, Supplies, and App Message Map

출결 language covers absence, tardiness, leaving early, and sick absence. A short message such as 아이가 오늘 결석해요 is clearer than a long explanation when time is urgent.

동의서 and 신청서 require careful reading. Look for participation, non-participation, signature, deadline, return method, and whether a supporting document is needed.

준비물 notices often sound simple, but the exact item, day, and child action matter. Ask whether the item should be brought by the child, sent by the guardian, or uploaded through the school app.

학교 앱 messages can disappear under many notifications. Capture the key action in your own checklist: reply, send, bring, submit, or ask.

상담 and 면담 are not only appointments. They are also chances to confirm what you understood. Prepare one sentence: 제가 맞게 이해했는지 확인해 주세요.

급식 알레르기 is a safety topic. State the allergy plainly and ask what format the school needs. Do not hide it inside a long message about many other issues.

Three-Minute Notice Check Before You Reply

Minute one: circle the action words. Is the notice asking you to sign, submit, bring, reply, check, attend, or not attend? If you cannot find a verb, ask what you need to do.

Minute two: circle the time. Look for 오늘, 내일, 이번 주,까지, 오전, 오후, 등교, 하교, or 상담 시간. Many misunderstandings come from missing one deadline word.

Minute three: circle the person. Is the teacher asking the guardian, the student, or both? Say it back: 제가 서명하고, 아이가 내일 가져오면 돼요?

Before sending a reply, write one confirmation sentence. The safest general sentence is 제가 맞게 이해했는지 확인해 주세요.

Practice reading common notice fragments. For each fragment, name the required action and then say a confirmation sentence.

Mistake Prevention Clinic

Mistake one is answering only “yes” without confirming the action. If a notice asks for a reply, write the action back: 내일까지 동의서를 보내겠습니다.

Mistake two is treating every notice as the child’s task. Some notices require the guardian’s signature or contact, while others require the child to bring an item. Separate the roles.

Mistake three is writing too much private information. A teacher usually needs the relevant contact, reason, or document, not a full family story or unrelated ID details.

Mistake four is missing 까지. This word marks the deadline. When you see it, repeat the date or time in your reply.

Mistake five is not checking the channel. If the school uses an app, a paper notice, and text messages, ask which one should be used for the final reply.

Mistake six is asking a long mixed question. Number your questions or ask only one: deadline, item, place, signature, or reply method.

안녕하세요, 선생님. 가정통신문을 확인했습니다. starts politely and tells the teacher you saw the notice.

제가 이해한 내용은 내일까지 동의서에 서명해서 보내는 것입니다. repeats the action and deadline without adding private details.

준비물은 물병과 체육복이 맞나요? asks one narrow question. If there are many questions, number them rather than mixing them in one sentence.

확인해 주시면 그대로 준비하겠습니다. 감사합니다. closes the message and signals you will act after confirmation.

After you send a reply, check whether the message was actually delivered in the school app, text thread, paper notice, or teacher channel. If the channel is unclear, ask which channel to use next time.

For attendance changes, send the short notice first and supporting details later. A simple message helps the school handle the real-time classroom situation.
